Meet Emma…

We’re rather proud of our awesome team at Chapter, so we thought it’s about time we shared!

First up, here’s Emma our wonderful Wellbeing Coach:

What inspired you to join Chapter?

Chapter found me really! I wanted to help people and found a leaflet during lockdown 2020 and started volunteering. I am fascinated with happiness and mental wellbeing and was inspired by the joy I found in the staff and participants at Chapter.

What’s the best bit about your work?

Learning about people and hearing their stories. Everyone I have spoken to has such amazing resilience and is so inspirational. I also love seeing people improve and hearing them become more themselves and more positive.

What’s your own wellbeing ‘go-to’?

Move! I was never a particularly fit person until I wasn’t feeling great and a friend offered to go on a run with me. A run was absolutely the last thing I wanted to do but she said it would make me feel better and it 100% did! I haven’t stopped running since! It doesn’t have to be a run, it can be yoga, walking or simply moving rooms can just put a completely different perspective on my mindset.

Emma tell us something unusual, or unexpected, about you that not many people would know.

I used to live in Vietnam! I was only meant to be there for 6 months and stayed for 2.5 years… it is an amazing place.

What’s your favourite inspirational quote for life?

‘Everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end’ – John Lennon

What 3 things are you most grateful for?

Great friends, woodland walks and coffee!

Lastly. What would you say to someone who’s thinking about contacting Chapter for support?

The number of people I have spoken to who say ‘its so nice to have an impartial person, who you don’t really know to talk to about things’. Sometimes having that person to talk to can be a real release. It can be daunting taking the plunge, especially if you are entering a conversation about your own mental health for the first time, but everyone at Chapter has great ears and are ready to listen.
