Deliver activities that support people with serious mental illness to engage in their local community. Activities range from walking groups, board game sessions, photography groups and healthy eating classes. Maybe you’ve got a skill to offer that would allow us to offer a new activity.
You don’t need any experience in mental health or of working with people as training will be given. If you’re friendly, supportive and good at lifting the spirits of others then you’d be the perfect Chapter activity volunteer.
Fundraising is an essential source of income for Chapter and helps us to deliver mental health support and services. We’re always on the look out for community fundraisers to help with coordinating and delivering bucket collections or planning and running fundraising events.
Our fundraisers come from a wide range of backgrounds and whether you’re the outgoing type that loves to meet new people, or if you prefer to work behind the scenes, we’re sure to find a great role for you.
Would you like the opportunity to make a positive difference to the mental health of our community? Chapter is a small local charity which has been making a real difference to people living with mental ill health across Cheshire for over 30 years. We have a clear vision and strategic direction to inspire individuals, communities, and workplaces to build positive mental health. We now need to recruit a new trustee who shares our passion for positive mental health and can add value to our skilled board.
Our trustees have a very important role within our organisation. They support Chapter’s work from a governance standpoint, and hold us accountable to our strategy and purpose. They also share their invaluable skills, insight, and professional expertise. As such, we are particularly looking for new trustees who have the following skills and experience:
- Lived experience of mental ill health
- Risk management
- Operational management
- Local connections to Cheshire and Wirral
What to expect as a trustee at Chapter
Our trustees play an essential role within the Chapter team, providing strategic direction to the charity and supporting the Chief Executive Officer and senior management team to implement Chapter’s strategic plan.
Chapter usually has a team of six to ten trustees at any one time, and aims to maintain a board that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. Our trustees bring a wealth of experience from all sectors and walks of life, including, governance, marketing, HR, and finance, as well as lived experienced of mental ill-health.
Trustee meetings at Chapter usually take place bi-monthly, and are a mix of face-to-face meetings in the West Cheshire area, and virtual meetings via Zoom. Meetings usually last around 2 hours and follow a set agenda.
Trustees at Chapter are expected to abide by the Trustee Code of Conduct, which we share with all trustees when they join us. Trustees usually serve an initial three-year term and are then eligible for re-appointment if desired.
We always offer successful applicants the opportunity to observe a trustee board meeting ahead of being formally appointed as a trustee.
Diversity and inclusion
Diversity and inclusion are fundamentally important to us. We will work to reach as many people as possible with this call for new trustees, and we will review and consider all applications received.
We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of mental ill-health.
