Meet Adam, Chapter’s new wellbeing coach!

What inspired you to join Chapter?

I am a supporter of the social model of mental health and believe it is through people helping each other that the most poisive impact is made. Chapter has a community focus that sees the value of people getting together to share their stories and find new ways to manage their mental health.

What’s the best bit about your work?

I am fascinated by people’s stories and personal experiences. I am always blown away by how strong people are and how people adapt to difficult situations, learn, grow and thrive. If I can offer some support to help people to keep going with their journeys then I think that is a worthwhile thing to do. The team at Chapter is another reason. They are all so positive it is a breath of fresh air, everyone brings something different and the wealth of knowledge and experience is something that we can all tap it to.

What’s your own wellbeing go to?

Listening to music, exploring the wilderness, having a BBQ, preferably all at the same time! When I’m in a low mood I love a good fantasy book to escape from my worries until I feel I am ready to face them.

Adam, tell us something unusual, or unexpected, about you that not many people would know.

I used to be a drummer in a band we could have made it you know….. (tears). I enjoy cooking and love to try new recipes from around the world so if you have any recipe ideas let me know and I’ll give it a whirl.

What’s your favourite inspirational quote for life?

“ People can change anything they want to, and that means everything in the world. ” — Joe Strummer, The Clash

What 3 things are you most grateful for:

My family and friends, my health an Everton win once in a while

Any noteworthy professional associations / qualifications?

I have Social Work degree

What would you say to someone who is thinking about contacting Chapter for support?

Asking for help can be the hardest thing to do but we all need help at times. We have to realise that its OK not to be OK. Sometimes we think we can deal with things on our own but that can lead to increased anxiety. Knowing that you have someone there for you can help lessen these feelings.  Give it a go and see what happens!
